Hiking in the Mountains!
So I said I wanted to get out and see more of Korea when I was here. I really wanted to make sure to get to Jiri Mountain, it's the highest peak on the mainland, and there's a lot of stuff to do there, not to mention supposedly an incredible view! Well, I joined a hiking group on the weekend and bippity-boppity-boo I'm headed to Jiri mountain on an overnight (bus) trip out of Seoul! It will only cost W33,000 for the bus (and insurance in case anything goes awry), and then meals on top when we stop - awesomegoodness!! The bus leaves at 11:45pm out of Seoul and arrives at Jiri mountain 4am (yes, in the morning, the reason none of the folks I work with would come with me, lol). We start the hike at 5am (9hours total hiking I think) and the day ends with us back in Seoul by around 9pm Saturday night... sounds a little crazy but I'm actually excited about going - yay for hiking Jiri mountain!!! I'll have to book Mags for a hotel, but there's lots of time for that. I'm not great with big groups of people I don't know (as you may already know) and there will be about 40 people I've never met before, but hey, at least I'll be out exploring Korea, right?! :) I was so excited I had to write about it, and kinda proud of myself for signing up for it at all since I'm a bit intimidated by the size of the group of strangers, but - oh well!! 26th/7th I'm off to the mountains - woohoo! :)

geez dude - there's some info that you didn't include in you message... hehehe. let me think about it :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, you're right, I was deliberately vague!! :) There were only 5 spots left as of 5pm, so I'll try to convince you come late spring/early summer with the next one... less middle of night and more like campover, lol...
ReplyDeleteYour kids are ADORABLE!!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy with your blog. Love all the photos and info. Good for you to get out and meet new people. I can totally relate. Very hard to push myself to do new things. BUT.... how dangerous is this mountain you are going to climb. Are we talking sherpas and home base and all that stuff?
Went to WW tonight good news! (check message on Skype) but not so good for my cute canines. Coco completely ripped open a double garbage bag which I had neglected to take out to the bin so I came home to coffee grinds and such all over the floor. SERENITY NOW!!
Love you sooooooo much. As always - STAY SAFE!............Mom
Mountain not at all dangerous, I'm only hiking, not climbing. Lol, no sherpas and such, a little backpack with a water bottle and a couple of granola bars will suffice!
ReplyDeleteWill check out Skype over the afternoon break, looking forward to your news. Oops, I've done that with the garbage before as well, yuck yuck yuck! You won't forget the bags in the house again, right??! :)
All safe here, no worries. Having a great day with my kindy kids too so far (so so so so cute!) and I'm loving it!! I might request another bottle of Cold F/X though, I think it's helping me keep away the worst of the bugs!!!! Love you much Mom, talk to you soon! xox
