If you can believe it (I hardly can!) my plane leaves in the morning, only one more sleep. Though I'm sure I can't possibly fit one more item into my suitcases and I'm sure I've twice and thrice gone through my to-do list, I'm still left with a bit of a feeling that I've forgotten something. Not sure what it is though, so I'm not going to panic about it!
Yesterday I called the airline to find out what I have to do to ensure nothing is stolen out of my bags en route. Apparently, the airline (Air Canada) doesn't actually insure your luggage, so if you're travelling and someone in the baggage handline area takes something OUT of your suitcase (like the camera or Wii I have packed in mine) you're out of luck unless your whole suitcase doesn't arrive. I turned four shades of sputtering maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad after waiting on hold for 25 minutes and then being told that I have to purchase separate insurance through the bank if I want items to be assured arrival at my destination - bastards!! After much grumbling (which my poor mother had to listen to!) I went online to find out how much the damn insurance was, and it turned out it was cheap. A moment of 'suck it up princess' and I paid for the damn 2 days of insurance... jerks. I don't even want to think about the rigamarole you have to go through if something is stolen, so I'm just going to take pictures of the non-clothes crap as it is in my bags and at least I'll know what to report. I'll zap-strap the zippers closed as well, just in case... maybe some deterrent is better than none!
Rather than asking my family to get up super early tomorrow morning to get me to my flight on time, I've booked a hotel room at the airport. They're going to drop me off there later this evening, and I'll take a shuttle over to my flight when it's time. I'm 95% excited now and only 5% anxious, which is much an improvement over pre-telling everyone I was going once I had decided. Really all that anxiousness was counterproductive, but I'm really not sure how you just kick it all out of your head and ignore it! At least it's gone now, I can't wait to get there, my head is buzz-buzz-buzzing!!
There are one or 2 more things I'm going to run around and do in the city today (say goodbye to a friend, pick up various ketchuped things for another friend in Korea (there are no ketchup chips there!!!!). I think both Mom and my little bro are going to drive me to the hotel, so I don't have to worry about saying goodbyes yet. Mags is now very good in her carrier as I've been dragging her everywhere. My niece really likes her (told me she only likes dogs and cats when they're little, then she doesn't really like them much anymore) and took good care of her when we were all together. I have my stuff at mom's all packed up and put together, and most everything is sitting in the front room (I still have to pack up the laptop - oops!). I'm planning to be back in from the city by about 4:30 to leave for the airport, funny, there and back, there and back. Butterflies in my stomach, my brain making lists and erasing them over and over again, but all is well.
One more sleep and I'm on my way!!!!!!
